NAMPA, Idaho – For the first time in program history, the College of Idaho will play host to the Cascade Conference Golf Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, today and tomorrow at Ridgecrest Golf Club.

The 54-hole event will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start each morning.

The Championships have been held every April since 2009, with the previous six tournaments taking place at Diamond Woods Golf Course outside Salem, Ore.

The six CCC men’s teams will be vying for an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championships, with the medalist also earning a berth to Nationals. Last year, Warner Pacific ended Concordia’s four-year run of titles with a two-stroke victory, with Andrew Johnson earning medalist honors.

Regular-season CCC champion, Concordia, is the odds-on favorite to win the team title – though a bevy of players are in the mix for the individual berth. CU’s Jesse Heinly, Northwest Christian’s Tyler Falk, and C of I’s Kyle DeLorey all have stroke averages under 75 during the season.

On the women’s side, Concordia is the heavy favorite to claim their sixth-straight league title, as the Cavs ran away with the CCC 2013-14 regular-season crown. Two-time defending champion Sunny Powers leads Ronn Grove’s CU golfers with a 78.6 stroke average, but will have to contend with C of I senior, Baylee Borchers – who earned medalist honors at the final regular-season CCC event.

No automatic qualifying berth is available for the women’s teams.
