Red Lion Players of the Week Announced
The following CCC and NAIA West student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period March 30 – April 6.
Softball Pitcher
College of Idaho’s Nickayla Skinner has been named the Red Lion Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Skinner, a senior from Mountain Home, Idaho, was dominant in the circle this week, going 3-0 with a 0.70 ERA in 20 innings of work. She tossed her 25th and 26th career shutouts in victories over Northwest Christian and Concordia, while recording her 26th career game with 10+ K's vs. Northwest.

Softball Player
College of Idaho’s McKensie Stanton has been named the Red Lion Softball Player of the Week.
Stanton, a senior from Boise, Idaho, hit safely in all five games she played in this week, including two three-hit games. She hit the go-ahead two-run homer in Game 1 win over Concordia.

Baseball Pitcher
College of Idaho’s Ryan Eddy has been named the Red Lion Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Eddy, a senior from Boise, Idaho, had a monster week for the Yotes, going 2-0 with a 0.52 ERA. He tossed a five-hit shutout on Monday in a win over Simpson, striking out a career-high 11 - the most by a C of I pitcher in three years. Eddy followed it up with eight-plus innings of six-hit ball against No. 23 British Columbia, striking out four.

Baseball Player
Lewis-Clark State’s Cody Lavalli has been named the Red Lion Baseball Player of the Week.
Lavalli, a senior from Apple Valley, Calif., extended his hitting streak to 20 games (7th all-time in program history) with hits in all four contests against Concordia's solid pitching last week. The right fielder's biggest hit was his walk-off homer in the 10th inning on Saturday. The blast, his seventh, tied him with teammate Ryan Sells for the league lead in home runs.

Women’s Field
Concordia’s Jessica Mattos has been named the Red Lion Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Mattos, a junior from Corralitos, Calif., won a pair of events at the Concordia/Willamette Dual on Saturday, taking the discus crown by 20 feet with a 146-1 (44.53m) and the hammer title by five feet with a 149-3 (45.49m)…Mattos is currently No. 2 in the NAIA in the discus with a 155-4 (47.34m) season best.

Women’s Track
College of Idaho’s Hillary Holt has been named the Red Lion Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Holt, a senior from Meridian, Idaho, ran the fastest collegiate (all divisions) outdoor 1,500-meter time so far in 2014 at the Stanford Invitational, finishing 2nd out of 111 total runners (losing only to a tenured professional runner and defeating 83 NCAA Division I runners) - missing the USATF "A" standard by three seconds. She followed it up with the top time this season by an NAIA runner in the 800-meters, breaking C of I's school record - finished second among 71 collegiate runners (61 from NCAA Division I schools).

Men’s Field
Concordia’s Darien Moore has been named the Red Lion Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Moore, a junior from Bakersfield, Calif., once again upped his school record and NAIA-leading distance in the hammer throw last week, tossing a 214-1 (6.25m) on his final attempt of the day at the Concordia/Willamette Dual…Moore now has more than a seven-foot lead over the No. 2 hammer thrower in the NAIA…Also the NAIA leader in the shot put, Moore added a win in the shot put on Saturday with a throw of 58-7 1/4 (17.86m), just off his career best of 60-6 (18.44m) from earlier this season...With a mark 164-6 (50.14m), Moore placed second in the discus on Saturday to the NAIA leader and teammate Nate Moses. Adding to his No.1 overall rankings in the shot and the discus, Moore is currently No. 4 in the discus.

Men’s Track
Southern Oregon’s Eric Avila has been named the Red Lion Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Avila, a junior from Chula Vista, Calif., won the Stanford Invitational and in the process took over the country's top collegiate time at any level this season. His time of 13:43.05 was nearly 20 seconds better than his previous best, which had also been an SOU school record. In addition to being a cross country and indoor DMR national champ, Avila now owns the NAIA's top marks in the 800 and 5K.

Men’s Golf
College of Idaho’s Kyle DeLorey has been named the Red Lion Men’s Golfer of the Week.
DeLorey, a senior from Boise, Idaho, was stellar in tough playing conditions at the NNU Intercollegiate, placing fourth overall. He was at one-under par after 36 holes and carded a final round 77 in a driving rainstorm and has not had a round above 79 this season.
