RESULTS

SPRINGFIELD, Ore.—
With five of the top eight golfers on the leaderboard, the Concordia women’s golf team concluded the first day of action with a 34-stroke at the Northwest Christian Invitational held at the Springfield Country Club on Monday.

Concordia (315-323—638) posted the best two rounds of the day with College of Idaho (334-338—672) coming through 36 holes in second place. The host Beacons of Northwest Christian (360-346—706) hold a 10-stroke lead over Simpson University (361-355—716) for third place while Corban (371-359—730) and Oregon Tech (398-409—807) wrap up the final team standings.

College of Idaho’s Baylee Borchers (77-76—153) will enter the third and final round with a three-stroke edge over first-round leader Jennifer Gibbons (76-80—156) of Concordia.

Breaking into the top 10 and following Gibbons for Concordia were Sunny Powers (79-80—159) in third place, Madison Alamillo (79-82—161) in fifth, Kelsey Whiles (81-81—162) in sixth and Lynsie Furuya (82-84—166) in eighth.

Competing as an individual, Scotti Jo Helmick (82-89—171) led Warner Pacific in 10th place, firing a 171 over the 5,801-yard course. One stroke back of Helmick, Northwest Christian’s Haley Partridge (87-85—172) paced the Beacons in 11th place.

In 15th place, Aylssa Clements (85-91—176) turned in the best performance for Oregon Tech and Brooke Spencer (89-89—178) recorded consecutive 17-over 89s to lead Corban.
