Northwest U Signs Nine for Men’s Soccer

KIRKLAND, Wash. - Northwest University head men’s soccer coach Gary McIntosh has announced the addition of nine student-athletes as part of the Eagles’ 2014 recruiting class. The signees include: Chris Iacolucci of Shoreline, Wash.; Benjamin Nordlie of Auburn, Wash.; Aaron Becerril of Woodinville, Wash.; Josimar Evangelista of Luanda, Angola; Will Bishop of Port Au Prince, Haiti; Dominick Downer of St. Catherine, Jamaica; Tyler Ptacek of Everett, Wash.; Reilly Cross of Snohomish, Wash., and Harry Hanson III of Bremerton, Wash.

“I think the class is pretty well rounded as far as positions,” said McIntosh. There are three keepers, two defenders, three midfielders, and one forward in this group. “These players certainly fit the needs we have moving forward here at Northwest. I think we’ve always tried to recruit highly talented players who are high character individuals. Certainly, this group of players fits the mold here at Northwest – great players, great competitors, and great students.”

Student-athletes signing their letters of intent to attend Northwest University:

Chris Iacolucci will be a freshman and will play the midfielder and forward position at NU. The 6’0”, 165 lb. Iacolucci played his high school soccer at Shorecrest High School.
 
Benjamin Nordlie, a midfielder, will be a senior at Northwest U. Nordie is 6’2”, 185 lbs., and attended classes at Green River Community College. Benjamin played soccer Auburn High School.
 
Aaron Becerril, a sophomore, is a 6’0”, 185 lb. defender and a transfer from Western Washington University.
 
Josimar Evangelista, a junior midfielder from Edmonds, Wash., and transfer from Edmonds Community College. Evangelista is 5’10” and 175 lbs. Josimar is originally from the country of Angola.
 
Will Bishop is an incoming freshman a graduated from Hanford High School. The 5’11”, 195 lb. forward is originally from Port Au Prince, Haiti and currently living in West Richland, Wash.
 
Dominick Downer is a 6’1”, 185 lb. freshman goalkeeper is from the island of Jamaica and attended Jamaica College.
 
Tyler Ptacek will be a freshman and play the defender position. The 5’9”, 185 lb. Ptacek played his prep soccer at Archbishop Murphy High School in Everett, Wash.

Reilly Cross is a 5'9', 140 lb. midfielder and a transfer from Edmonds Community College from Snohomish, Wash.
 
Harry Hanson III, 6’1”, 218 lb. freshman hails from Bremerton, Wash., and played goalkeeper at Olympic High School.
 
McIntosh concluded, “I think when you consider all aspects, not just soccer talents, but the character of the players and the quality of the individual in the classroom, we’re really excited about this group as a whole and we’re excited to make them a part of the Northwest University family.”
