“I am extremely pleased to announce that Vanessa Parrales, a Las Vegas native, has signed to become part of the Eastern Oregon softball team next year,” said head coach Betsy Westermann. “Parrales will bring tremendous speed to our line-up and will put a new level of pressure on opposing defenses. In addition to her 23 stolen bases last high school season, she also does a great job tracking fly balls in the outfield and can hit from both sides of the plate. Her versatility at the plate and in the field will become another valuable component for us next year.”
Pratt comes to EOU from Bishop Kelly High School, played in 26 games and batted .400. Pratt collected 26 hits on the season, four doubles, one triple and one home run. She drove in 17 runs and had an on base percentage of .466 on the season.
Pratt was named to the Southern Idaho Conference Second Team Infielder. She helped her team to a 4A Southern Idaho Conference Championship, Idaho 4A State Championship and Idaho 4A State Academic Championship.
“CeCe is a highly competitive person who excels in the classroom and on the softball field,” Coach Westermann said. “She has a strong softball background, incredible knowledge of the game, and the ability to play multiple positions. CeCe possesses a strong desire to perform and excel at the collegiate level and will do whatever it takes to be successful. I am looking forward to working with CeCe in the upcoming years and watching her grow and flourish on the field and in life.”
Parrales and Pratt join Shelby Baertsch (McCook Community College) and Maryssa Santi (Skyview High School) to the 2015 class.
