GULF SHORES, Ala.—Adding three All-Americans in the discus, including the national champion in Nate Moses (Fresno, Calif./Bullard H.S.), the Concordia men's track & field team continued to lead the team race through the second day of action at the NAIA National Championships on Friday.

Oklahoma City University's Chris Lowery claimed the eighth and final qualifier with a 1:51.53. Ranked 19th heading into the meet, freshman Carlos Ortiz (Salem, Ore./North Salem H.S.) posted a 10.72 for a 17th-place result in the prelims of the 100-meter dash. Missing out on his school record by just .06, Ortiz placed third in his section and missed out of qualifying to finals by .13 as Indiana Tech's Harris Edwards III snagged the final position.

5 p.m. – Men's Discus (Finals)
A day after helping the team secure 24 points in the hammer throw, Nate Moses (Fresno, Calif./Bullard H.S.) led a 19-point outburst in the discus throw as the senior dominated the field en route to his second national title in the event. Moses uncorked a school record 202-9 (61.81m) on his first attempt and never looked back, winning the discus by over 30 feet over Olivet Nazarene's Jacob Armbrust (172-6). Moses also won the discus title in 2012.

Southern Oregon's Markus Sanders placed third with a 169-6, nipping the Concordia duo of Joe Hall (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo H.S.) and Darien Moore (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield H.S.). Hall tossed a career-best 168-4 (51.30m) in his third attempt for fourth place while Moore, the national champion in the hammer throw on Thursday, added a fifth-place result with a 166-6 (50.76m) effort in the discus.

Missing out on finals by just over seven feet, Justin Ramirez (San Luis Obispo, Calif./San Luis Obispo H.S.) placed 20th with a 149-9 (45.65m).

For Whybark and Elliott, the race represented the third career All-American honors for their career while giving first-year Cavaliers Collmer and Keane nabbed their second All-American accolade after taking fourth place in the national championships distance medley during indoor season.

8:15 p.m. – Men's 1,600-Meter Relay (Prelims)
Closing out the evening, the men's 1,600-meter relay returned to finals after a one-year absence by cracking a school record while taking second place in the third and final section.

The Concordia squad of Jordan Reeher (Prineville, Ore./Crook County H.S.), Edgar Vazquez (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./Capistrano Valley H.S.), Demetrius Rhodes (Portland, Ore./Benson Polytechnic) and Andre Washington (Vancouver, Wash./Hudson's Bay H.S.) toured the track in 3:12.91 to snip .08 off the former school record set during the All-American run from 2012. The Cavaliers entered the weekend ranked No. 12 in the NAIA with a season-best 3:15.02.

Reeher led off the attack with a strong leg to setup the Cavaliers just shy of the pole behind national leader Indiana Tech.
