EUGENE, Ore. – Northwest Christian University Golfer Calvin Green was announced Monday as a CoSIDA/Capitol One Academic All-America Selection for the third consecutive year. Green earned Second-Team honors in the at-large category.
Encompassing all sports which do not have their own category in the Academic All-America program, the 2014 teams include seven golfers, six tennis players, three swimmers, two wrestlers and two men’s volleyball players. Green was the only athlete, male or female, selected from the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
After graduating from NCU last spring with a 3.92 GPA in the exercise science program, Green (Springfield, Ore.) continued his studies this year, working towards a Master of Business Administration degree while playing out his collegiate eligibility with the Beacons. He currently holds a 3.87 GPA in the MBA program.
Green also earned Third-Team All-America honors in 2012 and First-Team All-America accolades in 2013.
The 2013-2014 Capitol One Academic All-America program, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom. Minimum qualifications for nomination include at least sophomore standing, a 3.4 GPA and significant contributions to your team athletically.
Green was one of five NCU athletes this season to earn CoSIDA/Capitol One Academic All-District honors and one of two Beacons to be named Academic All-America second-team, joining volleyball player Dana McGowan, also in the MBA program.
