College of Idaho and Corban Share Presidents' Cup Top Honors

LA GRANDE, Ore. –The College of Idaho and Corban University share the Cascade Collegiate Conference Presidents’ Cup honors for the 2013-14 academic year the conference office announced today.
 
The Presidents’ Cup Academic Award recognizes outstanding overall academic performance.  Each member institution is scored using two criteria (overall student athlete GPA (men and women) and total number of student athletes receiving academic all- conference honors.
 
Both schools earned a total 38 points throughout the year. Corban led the way with the highest combined GPA at 3.28 followed closely by COI at 3.21. The Yotes had seventy-two student athletes named Academic All-Conference while the Warriors named seventy student athletes to the list.
 

Eastern Oregon University, Northwest Christian University, Oregon Tech and Concordia University round out the top 5 with 28, 24 and 22 points respectively.  EOU had a combined GPA of 3.17 and fifty-four student athletes named Academic All-Conference. The Beacons of NCU had a combined GPA of 3.19 and forty-four named Academic All Conference.  Concordia and Oregon Tech tied for fifth place.  The Cavaliers had sixty-one named Academic All-Conference and a combined GPA of 2.89 while the Owls had fifty named Academic All-Conference and had a combined GPA of 3.11. 

To be considered for Academic All Conference a student athlete must be of sophomore standing, been at the school for two consecutive semesters or three quarters and have a 3.2 or higher GPA
