Herman signs professional basketball contract in Spain
PORTLAND, Ore.— Concordia University's all-time leading scorer
Adam Herman (Vancouver, Wash./Prairie H.S.) has signed a professional contract to continue his playing career overseas in Spain.
Herman officially signed with Club Baloncesto Plasencia Ambroz, in Spain's fourth division. With more than 40,000 esidents, Plasencia is located in Western Spain, just over two hours west of the national capital of Madrid.
"Relieved," Herman said when asked how it felt to get offered his first pro contract. "It's just a blessing, and I want to take full advantage the opportunity. I won't waste it."
Capping his career with an amazing senior year, Herman led the Cascade Collegiate Conference in scoring at 24.5 points per game and established Concordia's all-time career scoring record.
After being selected the CCC Player of the Year, Herman was named a First-Team NAIA All-American. He helped lead Concordia to a 22 wins, a No. 2 seed in the CCC Tournament, and an at-large berth to the NAIA DII National Championships. Following the season, he was selected to play in the 2014 NAIA Division II Men's Basketball All-Star game in Kansas City, Mo.
Herman closed out his career with 2,257 points (20.2 ppg) and also holds school records for made free throws (577) and free throw attempts (741). Despite the high scoring volume, Herman was annually one of the most efficient players in the NAIA, finishing with a career field goal percentage of 63 percent which stands second all-time at Concordia. In addition, Herman closed out his career ranked No. 3 in school history with 802 rebounds.
After finishing his senior season at Concordia, Herman played with the Vancouver Volcanoes of the IBL (International Basketball League) under Head Coach Joe Navarro – a Concordia alum and former CU assistant. Herman was named IBL Rookie of the Year for the 2014 season as he averaged 14 points and six rebounds while shooting 55 percent from the field.
