Jackson, McArthur score as Raiders blank Marymount 8/23/2014 7:21:00 PM SOU Sports Information MEDFORD – The Southern Oregon University women's soccer team ushered in the 2014 season in triumphant fashion Saturday, scoring a 2-0 decision over the Marymount (Calif.) Mariners at U.S. Cellular Field. The Raiders' depth was on display early as sophomore forward Caylin Jackson (Claremont, Calif./Claremont) came off the bench to match her goal and assist totals of 2013 with one of each. She deposited the first score of the season from 15 yards out after receiving a cross from Allyson Ward (Santa Rosa, Calif./Santa Rosa) in the 34th minute. Junior forward Megan McArtur scored from close in the 88th minute as Jackson found her from the corner. SOU did its damage despite getting off just six shots. Marymount had 11, four of which went on goal. Keepers Kylie Moltzen (Fremont, Calif./Mission San Jose) and Devon Walker (Yelm, Wash./Yelm ) shared the shutout. Both had two saves in a half of action. The Raiders have won four straight season-openers. The contest was their first ever against the Mariners. SOU will stay at U.S. Cellular Field for three games next week, starting with Monday's 11 a.m. tilt against The Master's College.
