Warrior Volleyball Splits Double-Header in California Road-Swing
The Corban volleyball team ended its two-game road-swing on Saturday with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-8) triumph over West Coast Baptist followed by a heart-breaking defeat to Pacific Union College, 2-3 (19-25, 25-27, 25-18, 25-20, 10-15). The Warriors compiled a total of 78 kills and 224 digs in the double-header.

CALISTOGA, CALIF. - After two tight set wins against against West Coast Baptist, Corban volleyball managed to pull away with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-8) victory in a match where the Warriors compiled 29 team kills and 10 service aces.
Corban (2-0) established an aggressive attack in the first set, as the Warriors sent 15 kills into the Eagle hardwood and shot a 0.324 hitting percentage.
Although the Warriors struggled with eight attack errors in second set, the team still managed to escape with a 25-18 set victory and a 2-0 lead going into intermission.
The third set saw the Warriors break off to the races, as Corban managed to clobber West Coast Baptist by a count of 25-8. The Navy and Gold managed to fire a 0.320 hitting percentage and hiccuped just one attack error in the set.
As a team, the Warriors combined for six block assists and 47 digs in the match. Moreover, Corban had 19 assists on the afternoon.
A trio of youngsters led the offensive attack for the Warriors, as freshman opposite hitter Shelby Miller (Lebanon, Ore.) recorded seven kills and only two errors in 20 attempts. Freshman middle blocker Sloane Morrison (Edmonds, Wash.) and freshman outside hitter Shantelle Hill (Pasco, Wash.) both chipped in five kills with zero errors.
Defensively, freshman libero Kasey Calderon (Murrieta, Calif.) recorded eight digs, while senior libero Katherine Salness (Portland, Ore.) and junior defensive specialist Kelsey Wright (Beaverton, Ore.) tallied six digs apiece.
Corban vs. Pacific Union
ANGWIN, CA - Despite a valiant effort, Corban volleyball dropped a five-set thriller, 2-3 (19-25, 25-27, 25-18, 25-20, 10-15), to Pacific Union College on Saturday night. The Warriors had 49 kills and an astounding 177 digs on the evening in the match that capped a two-game road-swing in Northern California.
After losing two close sets to begin the match, Corban (2-1) fought back to claim the next two sets (25-18, 25-20) before losing a tight one in the finale.
A trio of double-doubles paced the Navy and Gold. Sophomore setter Haley Meili (Eugene, Ore.) tallied 21 assists and 15 digs for the Warriors. Freshman setter Rachel Smith (Moscow, Idaho) recorded her first career double-double with 19 assists and 20 digs. Moreover, senior outside hitter Claire Bailey (Rosa, Calif.) made her presence known, adding 10 kills and 17 digs.
Senior outside hitter Miah Smith (Albany, Ore.) led the offensive attack with 12 kills in the match. The defensive end was paced by senior libero Katherine Salness (Portland, Ore.) who finished with 35 digs.
Corban volleyball returns to the hardwood on Monday for its final match of the road trip as it take on William Jessup University in Rocklin, Calf. at 7 p.m.
