LA GRANDE, Ore. – The top-ranked Concordia women’s soccer team has been named the “Adidas Team of the Week” for Sep. 8-14, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.

The Cavaliers earned a pair of wins in Santa Barbara, Calif. over the weekend, including a 2-1 victory over No. 2 Westmont on Friday in a rematch of the 2013 NAIA National Championship match.  CU added another win on Sunday, defeating Kansas Wesleyan, 1-0.

On Friday, Shannon McMahon scored her first goal of the season to give CU a lead over the Cougars and then after Westmont scored the equalizer in the 60th minute, Alicia Kolter scored her fourth goal of the season, intercepting a pass before dribbling up and firing in a shot for the 2-1 win.

On Sunday, Erin Huisingh scored the lone goal for the Cavaliers as Concordia keeper Nicole Franklin made seven saves to earn the shutout, her second of the year and the fourth overall for the defending national champions.

With the win, the Cavaliers improve to 7-0-1 on the season and will face off against Trinity Lutheran in their final non-conference match on Sep. 21 in Portland.
