Geoducks Cruise Past Eagles, 6-0
OLYMPIA, Wash. – Holding a two-player advantage before the match even began, the Evergreen Geoducks made easy work of the short-staffed Trinity Lutheran Eagles, 6-0, in a non-conference women's soccer match on Thursday afternoon at Geoduck Pitch in Olympia, Wash.
The Geoducks opened up the scoring in the ninth minute as
Amy Bromley fired a shot that found the post and
Katie Hebein was there for the rebound to score her second goal of the season and give Evergreen the 1-0 lead. The Geoducks made it 2-0 in the 14th minute as
Vanessa Zamora fed in a ball to Bromley, who put the ball on goal for her second goal of the season as well.
Hebein made it 3-0 in the 21st minute, dribbling against three TLC defenders before beating Trinity keeper Colby Smits one on one. The Geoducks increased the lead to 4-0 in the 38th minute as
Delaney Smith dribbled up the right side before unleashing a shot into the back of the net.
The offensive onslaught continued into the second half as Zamora added a goal to go with her earlier assist in the 50th minute, giving the Geoducks a 5-0 lead. The final score came in the 65th minute as Bromley scored again as Evergreen earned the big 6-0 win.
Evergreen keepers
Kyla Kitts and
Kayla Baskett combined for the shutout, earning four and two saves respectively. Smits was strong in net for TLC, making nine saves as the Geoducks fired 30 shots on the afternoon, compared with just 10 for Trinity.
The Geoducks will be back in action next Thursday as they open Cascade Conference play on the road at Southern Oregon.
