PORTLAND, Ore.—
The two top-seeded teams came out with wins today as the Cascade Collegiate Conference held its championship preview meet at Fernhill Park on Friday afternoon.

The No. 2-ranked Raiders of Southern Oregon University landed six runners in the top 10 to record 28 points for the meet win. No. 11-ranked Eastern Oregon edged No. 16-ranked Northwest Christian, 66 to 73, for second place while the host Concordia Cavaliers finished fourth with 94 points.

In fifth and sixth place, Corban University (128) and Northwest University (171) closed out the collegiate teams in the race.

Concordia's Matthew Clowes dominated the field by covering the 8,000-meter course in 24 minutes 7 seconds, more than a full minute ahead of Southern Oregon's Jared Hixon, who crossed next with a 24:15.

On the women's side, No. 6-ranked Northwest Christian University placed all five scorers inside the top 10 to score a meet-low 22 points. Oregon Tech placed second with 77 points and was followed by No. 15-ranked Southern Oregon at third with 92 points and No. 24-ranked Concordia in fourth with 94 points.

Corban University (97), Northwest University (148), Eastern Oregon University (171) and Warner Pacific College (251) rounded out the women's field.

NCU runners Shea Vallaire and Alyssa Harmon took the first two individual spots with Vallaire covering the 5,000-meter path in 18:11 to Harmon's 18:15. Oregon Tech's Mary Matchett placed third at 18:24 to break up a string of four straight NCU runners as Sierra Brown and Allison Duvenez placed fourth and fifth overall for the Beacons.

The CCC Championships will take place on Nov. 8 at Fernhill Park. Southern Oregon defeated Eastern Oregon 31 to 54 for the 2013 championship while College of Idaho tackled the women's race with a meet-low 19 points last season.
