Geoducks Slip Past Owls 2-0
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore – Evergreen State scored a goal in each half on the way to their first Cascade Conference win of the year Saturday afternoon at Trevor Derrah Field at Steen Sports Park. Evergreen improves to 1-1 in CCC play and 3-6 on the season with Oregon Tech falling to 5-5 on the season and 0-2 in CCC play.
Vanessa Zamora scored the eventual game winner for Evergreen State just 28 seconds into the match as she took a cross from Rayna Rain and chipped the ball into the Oregon Tech goal from just inside the 18.
Both teams would have opportunities to score the rest of the first half but neither could convert as the Geoducks led 1-0 at the break.
Evergreen would add to their lead in the 69th minute as Katie Hebein found Irina Lyons behind the Tech defense, Lyons settled the ball and scored from 10 feet out giving the visitors a 2-0 win.
For the game Evergreen State out-shot OIT 20-13 and also held a 12-6 advantage in shots on goal.
The Lady Owls will look for their first CCC win next Thursday, October 2nd in Salem, Oregon against Corban University.
