SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Eastern Oregon University women's soccer team was defeated by Westminster (Utah), 3-0, on Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins took an early lead over the Mountaineers 13 minutes into the game. Lexi Tucker scored her second goal of the year by beating
Jessica Parker to put Westminster ahead, 1-0.
The Mountaineers could not get anything going offensively in the first half as Westminster held Eastern Oregon without a shot for the first 45 minutes of the game. The Griffins had three other scoring opportunities in the first half, but Parker recorded the saves and after the first half of play, Westminster led, 1-0.
Fifteen minutes into the second half, the Griffins extended its lead to 2-0 after Madison Roemer beat Parker for her first goal of the season.
With the Griffins ahead, 2-0, the Mountaineers had its best scoring chance of the day.
Haley Hill took a shot but missed wide.
Westminster was not done scoring and extended its lead to 3-0 after a goal by Heidi Lorschider in the 78th minute of the game.
EOU fell to Westminster, 3-0. The Mountaineers were outshot 16-1 in the match.
The Mountaineers return to action on Sunday Sept. 14th when they open up the 2014 regular season home schedule against Trinity Lutheran. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
