PORTLAND, Ore. - Warner Pacific Volleyball earned their first Cascade Conference win of 2014 with a 3-1 decision over Northwest tonight at C.C. Perry Gym.

The Basics

 Location: C.C. Perry Gym, Portland, Ore.
 The Short Story: Warner Pacific used strong defense and timely hitting to defeat Northwest University 3 sets to 1 in Portland. The Knight back row dug up 65 balls to frustrate the Eagle attack, while the WPC hitters pounded out a season high 55 kills. The home team also took advantage of eight service aces.

How It Happened

• WP sprinted to a 11-4 lead in set one, but watch Northwest close to within 19-16 late.
The Knights closed out the set with six straight points, all with Cara Wonsley at the service line.
NU tied the match by winning set two.
The second from was tight early on and was tied at 15-15 before the Eagles reeled off six consecutive points.
NU hit for a match high .393 in the set and committed just two errors.
Janessa White came alive for WP in the third set, swinging for eight of her 20 kills on the night.
• Despite jumping out to a 7-1 lead, the Knights found themselves with a slim 21-20 advantage late in the set.
Three NU errors handed the frame to the host team.
• Set four was the most comfortable for Warner Pacific as they steadily pulled away and led by as many as eight points.
• Brittney Bevens came off the bench to put away five kills in the set.
