The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period September 1-7.
 
Women’s Soccer- Defensive
 
College of Idaho’s Brittany Houghton, a freshman from Saratoga Springs, Utah, has been named the Red Lion Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Houghton made five second-half saves in a 2-1 win over Arizona Christian and then stopped 11 shots, including a penalty kick save, as the Yotes tied Westminster.

Women’s Soccer- Offensive
 
Concordia’s Ariel Kanable, a junior from Beaverton, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Entering the year with four career goals, junior Ariel Kanable has scored points in three straight games while receiving starting assignments in the midfield for the defending NAIA champs... Kanable scored in her second straight game on Friday to help CU post a 1-1 tie against No. 12-ranked Vanguard and came back to assist on the game-winning score in a2-1 win over No. 5-ranked Concordia (Irvine) on Sunday.

Men’s Soccer-Defensive
 
Concordia’s Cody Guthrie, a freshman from Troutdale, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Guthrie helped Concordia limit the No. 5-ranked Concordia (Calif. ) Eagles scoreless for 85 minutes before falling 1-0. Facing three straight top 25 opponents, Guthrie has started all three matches to start his collegiate career and guiding the CU defense, which is featuring three newcomers, to a 1.67 goals against average.

Men’s Soccer-Offensive
 
Warner Pacific’s Almir Celebic, a senior from Portland, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Celebic scored twice and assisted on another goal as the Knights routed the Multnomah Lions, who are playing their first year as a varsity sport before joining the Cascade Conference in 2015.
 
Honorable mention: Odason Pelogi, Northwest
 
Volleyball- Offensive
 
Southern Oregon’s Motade Atanda, a senior from San Jose, Calif., has been named the Red Lion Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Atanda executed kills on 60 percent of her attacks on the weekend, going for 12-plus kills for the sixth and seventh times this season in wins over Corban and Northwest Christian. She also had consecutive matches with double-figure dig totals for the first time in her career.
 
Honorable mention: Jaclyn Trinque, Evergreen
 
Volleyball- Defensive
 
Oregon Tech’s Madisen Garlie, a sophomore from Challis, Idaho, has been named the Red Lion Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Coming off a pair of all-tournament selections last week, Garlie controlled the net on defense in a pair of conference wins for Tech, as the 6-2 sophomore middle recorded a solo block and 13 block assists (2.33 blocks/set) on the week. In the two matches Garlie would go on to tally 14 kills in 27 attempts with just four attack errors in the process.
 
Honorable mention: Nicole Barth, Concordia; Brookelynn Cole, Southern Oregon
 
Men’s Cross Country
 
Eastern Oregon’s Lucas Updike, a senior from Ketchikan, Alaska, has been named the Red Lion Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
 
Updike won the Whitman Invite as he ran a time of 26:29. Updike led the way for the Mountaineers as he went straight to the front and was in contention for the lead the entire race. Updike was strong over the last fifty meters to claim the victory.

Women’s Cross Country
 
Eastern Oregon’s Rachel Roelle, a sophomore from Anchorage, Alaska, has been named the Red Lion Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
 
Roelle won the Whitman Invite as she ran a time of 23:36. Her time was ten seconds faster than second place. She stayed with the lead pack the entire race and pulled away from the pack with 400 meters to go.
