Chanara Greene with another big night for the Eagles
Greene Leads Eagles Over Cavaliers
KIRKLAND, Wash. – Senior post, Chanara Greene, scored 26 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and blocked 6 shots as Northwest University defeated Concordia 81-67, for a Cascade Conference victory tonight.
Concordia got off to a good start taking a 14-6 lead seven minutes into the game capped off by McKenna Daley’s driving lay-in. But two consecutive steals by Northwest U along with Eagle baskets would cut the Cavalier lead to 19-18 as Emily Henderson would bury a jumper with 8:36 left in the half. After Janae Klarich would tie the score at 23-all, NU would rattle off a 9-2 run with Henderson hitting another jumper from 15 feet as the Eagles would lead 32-25. Paige Burson’s baseline drive to the basket would grow the Eagle lead to 12, 40-28, with 2:22 on the clock. Jenna Lewis would hit a 3-pointer with 16 seconds to go to stretch the NU lead to 48-32, but CU’s Lexi Campbell would answer with a trey of her own at the buzzer making it a 48-35 game at the break.
Northwest U would maintain their lead the entire second half as they continued to shoot at a 54 percent clip. Charity Degman’s jumper at the 5:45 mark would give NU their largest lead at 75-57 as they would go on to close out the game and post the victory.
In addition to Greene’s game high 26, Paige Burson added 16 points for Northwest U (10-9, 3-6 CCC) and Emily Henderson added 10 points off the bench for the Eagles who shot 55 percent for the game. NU held a 44-32 rebounding margin which included 15 offensive boards.
Janae Klarich and Lexi Campbell both score 16 for Concordia (8-9, 3-6 CCC) and McKenna Daley added 12 for the Cavaliers. CU was held to 37 percent shooting for the contest.
