CC- How did you choose NCU to continue your athletic and academic career?
KM- I wanted to go to a small Christian school where I could play softball and major in education. I felt like this was the place God was calling me to go to. This was the door that stayed open and I loved how welcoming the school was and the campus atmosphere.
CC- What are some of the demands of being a student athlete?
KM- Being a student athlete can be very time demanding. You spend a lot of time in the classroom and then on the field practicing. Besides the set team practices, you have to put in extra time on your own. For me personally, I have morning workouts at 5:45 three times a week, afternoon practice every day, and I am in the first grade classrooms full days at least three times week on top of my normal college classes.
CC- What are some of your best experiences so far, both academically and athletically at college?
KM- I have had many amazing experiences. The softball team finally won this dance competition that all the athletes compete against each other in. I am also in a first grade classroom three days out of the week. I love being in the classroom and getting field experience for teaching.
CC- Who are some influential people in your life at NCU?
KM- The three most influential people in my life are my dad, mom, and sister. Even though they are not here with me, they have a huge impact on my life. Another person would be my professors in the education program. They have such a passion for what they do and for giving us the best education and best preparation for when we head into the classrooms.
CC- When not competing or studying what do you do for fun?
KM- I love going on hikes when it is sunny and hanging out with my close friends.
CC- What do you hope to accomplish as a member of the CCC-SAAC?
KM- I hope to help build up the program since it is new and create a foundation that will last. I also want to help create traditions that will be continued throughout the years to come.
CC- What do you see yourself doing after graduation?
KM- I plan to go back to Southern California and teach first grade at my old school (Trinity). I also plan to coach the junior high and softball team there. Along with teaching and coaching, I see myself getting married and starting a family.
