Quarterfinals Set for CCC Mascot Challenge
LA GRANDE, Ore. – Week one of the Second Annual Cascade Collegiate Conference Mascot Challenge is in the books and the top eight have been selected to move on to the quarterfinal round starting Tuesday, January 27.
For the second year in a row, College of Idaho’s Yote the Coyote earns the first-seed heading into the second round of competition earning 223 votes and will face off against eighth-seeded Luther the Lion of Concordia in the final quarterfinal matchup on January 30.
Defending champion Hootie the Owl (OIT), will enter the quarterfinals as the second-seed tallying 208 votes and will take on the seventh-seed, Corban’s Cadmar the Warrior, on January 29.
The second quarterfinal matchup features Warner Pacific’s Knightro as the third-seed against sixth-seeded Rocky the Raider of Southern Oregon on January 28.
Eastern Oregon’s Monty the Mountaineer received the most votes in group one with 100, but will begin the quarterfinals as the number four-seed. Monty will take on Northwest Christian’s fifth-seeded Mr. Beacon in the first quarterfinal matchup on January 27.
The four quarterfinal winners will be re-bracketed heading into the semifinals with the highest seed taking on the lowest seed starting on February 3.
