CC- How did you choose Evergreen to continue your athletic and academic career?
AJ- One of my brothers from another mother as we call each other, Dre Taylor was playing basketball for the Geoducks and told me this would be a great college for me to come to and finish earning my degree and continue high jumping.
CC- What are some of the demands of being a student athlete?
AJ- Leadership, confidence, hard work, loyalty, teamwork, listening, the list can go on forever. A lot is asked of student athletes. We have to accomplish everything the rest of the student body has to accomplish while training and competing and some athletes like myself also have a job, so I would say; to be a student athlete you have to endless amounts of energy and a drive to be the great.
CC- What are some of your best experiences so far, both academically and athletically at college?
AJ- All of last year itself was a great experience. Just last summer I was doing things most athletes and even America would frown upon but that’s another story for another time. But earning all my credits this year, and just progressing in life has been the best experience.
CC- Who are some influential people in your life at TESC?
AJ- Joye Hardiman, wait I can’t forget Dr. she would be very upset, Dr. Joye Hardiman, Dr. Maxine Mimms, Kabby Mitchell, Chris Ertman, Andrew Beattie, Monica Hauer, Michelle Edhert, Matt Newman, Lisa Weatherspoon, two others who are no longer here but kept me motivated and were full of encouragement my brother Dre Taylor & bestfriend Shanai Cheng
CC- When not competing or studying what do you do for fun?
AJ- Oh man I love music; I usually just throw on my DreBeats and shuffle my favorite artist and friends Boosie, Wiz Khalifa Mac Shine, Sam Lachow, Porter Ray, E40, Chris Brown, Rich Homie Quan, Birdman, BG, & of course Lil Wayne.
CC- What do you hope to accomplish as a member of the CCC-SAAC?
AJ- This year I want to help the CCC-SAAC make our conference one of the best spirited conferences, when we go to nationals it would be nice to see every team from our conference cheering for not only their athletes but athletes from other teams in the conference as well, I cheered for Ethan of Concordia a lot last year, nothings better than a friendly rivalry. I would also like to give beneficial feedback to other SAAC members, to help their program grow as the years move forward. So I guess I hope to be helpful with the SAAC.
CC- What do you see yourself doing after graduation?
AJ- Some don’t believe it, but I’m going to Unite America, bringing people of all races, colors, and class together.
