KIRKLAND, Wash. – Junior Jordan Asher scored a game high 22 points to lead four Eagles in double figures as Northwest University defeated New Hope Christian College, 80-60, tonight in a non-league contest.
 
Asher hit 8 of 13 shots for her game high including 6 of 11 from the 3-point line to lead Northwest U (11-11). Senior Chanara Greene added 16 points, 9 rebounds and two blocks, while Kristen Frey and Jenna Lewis each scored 11 for the Eagles who shot 47 percent for the night.
 
Northwest U would jump out to an early 12-3 lead as they hit five out of their first six shots to start the game. A 3-pointer by Jenna Lewis would push their lead to 41-21 with 5:02 left in the half. A 12-4 run at the end of the half would help NHCC pull closer a Raeanna Davis would bury two 3-pointers to make it a 43-30 game with 2:38 showing on the clock. After NU's Kristen Frey would drop in two free throws, New Hope's Jess Logan would hit a jumper with 1:08 to go to make it a 48-35 game at the half with Northwest U leading.
 
The Eagles would open the second half with a 13-4 run to open up a 22 point, 61-39 lead after a driving lay-up by Jordan Asher (13:57). An 18-5 New Hope run over the next 7 minutes would close the gap to nine points, 66-57, after a Jess Logan jumper with 6:03 to go in the game. NU would build their lead back up to 20 after three straight treys by Jenna Lewis, Jordan Asher and Kristen Frey at the 3:31 mark. Asher would end the scoring with her sixth 3-pointer of the night for the 80-60 final.
 
Raeanna Davis led New Hope (5-18) with 17 points and teammate Jess Logan added 16 points and 6 rebounds for the Deacons. NHCC was out rebounded by Northwest by a 39-27 margin, giving up 18 offensive rebounds.
 
"It was a great team win tonight," said Ken Crawford, NU head coach, "with balanced scoring and a great team effort."
 
Northwest U returns to conference play tomorrow when they host The Evergreen State College at 5:30 p.m.
