West lifts Raiders to double-OT win against Corban 1/30/2015 10:58:00 PM SOU Sports Information ASHLAND – Corban continued to give the Southern Oregon men's basketball team headaches Friday night at Riehm Arena, but the 12th-ranked Raiders again found a safe haven outside of regulation. Jordan West (Gymea Bay, Australia/Port Hacking) registered 20 points and 10 rebounds and hit the go-ahead 3-pointer in the second overtime of SOU's 70-65 win over the Warriors. The Raiders are now 4-0 in overtime this season, and three of those have been in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. SOU improved to 19-4 overall and 9-3 in the CCC going into tomorrow key 7:30 p.m. matchup against Northwest Christian. Tim Weber (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) contributed 16 points, eight assists and five rebounds, and Ben DeSaulnier (Philomath, Ore./Philomath) scored 11. Corban (11-10, 4-8) forced the second extra frame thanks to a Taylor Fox putback at the end of the first overtime. The Warriors led 59-58 until SOU's Eric Thompson (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) hit a corner 3-pointer with 26 seconds on the clock, and Jordan Carter was fouled with 2.6 seconds to go on the other end. Carter missed both free throws, but Fox rebounded and threw in the second miss in one motion to beat the buzzer. The Warriors were led by Cyrus Ward's 19 points and nine rebounds, Carter's 12 points and five boards, and Cody Crowe's 11 points and eight boards. SOU had possession last at the end of regulation, but Thompson lost the ball inside and the score remained tied at 51-all. That was the end of an ugly second half in which the Raiders went 7-for-21 from the field after having shot 60 percent (15-for-25) during the first half. They led by 10 when Justin Martin (Central Point, Ore./Crater) nailed his third 3-pointer and 34-26 at halftime, but Corban tied the score at 37 with 12 minutes remaining. At that point, SOU had only made one basket in the second half. Corban was up 51-47 with 3:21 left in regulation after a pair of Crowe free throws. Weber scored inside on SOU's next possession and DeSaulnier tied it with a break-away layup at the 2:47 mark. Thompson's big 3-pointer in the first overtime was his second of the season against Corban – the first being his go-ahead dagger with one minute remaining at Corban on Jan. 3, when the Raiders fought back from a 15-point deficit in the second half for a 69-66 win. In the second overtime, Weber hit West in the corner for his triple that made it 64-61 with 3:39 left. Free throws by DeSaulnier and Weber extended the lead to 68-63, and West's two free throws with 34 seconds to go accounted for the final score. Thompson went scoreless in regulation, finishing with seven points and eight rebounds, while Joel Spear (Adelaide, Australia/St. Michaels) had five points and seven assists with a big 3-point play in the first extra session. Corban, which plays Saturday at Oregon Tech, also got AJ Monterossi's eight points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals.
