Eagles Blank SOU for Second Straight Shutout
KIRKLAND, Wash. – The Northwest University men recorded a 3-0 shutout of Southern Oregon on a wet and windy day in Kirkland. It was the second straight day the Eagles shut out an opponent.
Branson Corwin put the Northwest U (7-5, 5-2 CCC) men up seven minutes into the game with his shot coming off a cross and double assist from teammates Odason Pelogi and Jacob Weaver for the 1-0 lead which would carry through the first half.
Kyle Zimmerman scored his 8th goal of the season in the 50th minute with a blast down the middle from 25 yards out that sailed over the SOU goalkeepers’ outstretched hands. Corwin then scored his second goal of the day, fourth in two days as Jacob Weaver put his cross to the left side where Corwin finished from 18 yards out at he 70:13 mark.
Daniel Christenson earned the shutout making three saves for the day as the Eagles held a 16-9 advantage on shots. Southern Oregon (10-5, 5-5 CCC) did create opportunities and had seven corner kicks to Northwest’s two.
