LA GRANDE, Ore. – After helping Southern Oregon to the highest scoring offense in the conference a year ago, Carly Meister has been chosen as the 2015-16 Cascade Collegiate Conference Preseason Player of the Year, the conference office announced.
Meister, a senior forward from Elma, Wash., started all 32 games for the Raiders, tallying 12.3 points along with 6.3 rebounds per game. She helped lead to her team to a 15-3 conference record and a second place finishing in the CCC standings. Meister’s teammate Ashley Claussen also made the preseason all-conference list after averaging 10.5 points and 3.8 rebounds last season.
Eastern Oregon landed the most players on the preseason all-conference team with four players including the 2014 Freshman of the Year Maya Ah You. Ah You finished last season averaging 11 points and 3.5 rebounds per contest. Joining her are teammates Maddie Laan (11.8), Nikki Osborne (8.2) and Jordan Klebaum (9.7).
Oregon Tech had the second most players named to the list with three in Karly LeVeque (12.2), Ashleigh Vandenbrink (8.8) and Megan Whetstone (9.6). All three of these players were key in the Owls’ postseason success last year as they claimed the CCC tournament championship.
Three schools tied with two players on the list in Southern Oregon, College of Idaho and Corban while Northwest and Northwest Christian each had one player chosen.
