Rocky’s men score shutout over Eastern Oregon
BILLINGS– October 16, 2015 – Four different players scored goals to lead the Rocky Mountain College men’s soccer team to a 4-0 Cascade Collegiate Conference victory over Eastern Oregon University at Wendy’s Field in Billings (Mont.), Friday.
Sophomore midfielder Mathew Thomas started the scoring for the Battlin’ Bears when he scored an unassisted goal in the 15th minute.
Fourteen minutes later, senior defenseman Jack Clancy (Westmeath, Ireland) connected on his thirteenth goal of the season (29:22). He was assisted by freshman Steven Forbes (Ballock, Scotland). Another Forbes assist, his tenth of the season, led to a Tiago Ewald goal (31:31). Ewald is a freshman and comes to Rocky from Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Freshman Nolan Sherwood (Las Vegas, Nev.) closed out the scoring for the Battlin’ Bears at the 36:56 mark, notching his twelfth goal of the season, his fourth in the last three matches.
The Battlin’ Bears recorded 11 shots on goal compared to the Mountaineers’ one.
The win moved the Battlin’ Bears to 13-1 overall, and remain atop the conference standings with a 6-1 mark. Rocky returns to the pitch at Wendy’s Field Sunday, when they take on Warner Pacific University beginning at Noon.
