"We are still missing one key runner for us, but it was a great team effort and Craig got in the top 10, so it was a great finish against a really competitive field," said head coach Norm Berney. "We were right in there close to the top five of SOU, so we are excited about our guys moving forward throughout the remainder of this year."
As a team, Corban finished with 161 total points, just six points behind NCAA Division II opponent, Northwest Nazarene.
While competing against 11 total teams and 126 total runners, Warrior junior Craig Boekenoogen (Poulsbo, Wash.) finished in 10th place overall with a career-best time of 25:49.7, right behind Southern Oregon's fifth runner. Following Boekenoogen's strong performance, sophomore Zane West (Independence, Ore.) also registered a career-best time for the Navy and Gold, clocking a mark of 26:04.7 to take 14th overall on the very challenging course.
Another career-best time came from junior Zach Steele (Oregon City, Ore.), as Steele took 32nd overall while crossing the finish line in a time of 26:38.2.
Running in his first-career collegiate race for the Warriors was freshman Sam King (Bend, Ore.), as King clocked a solid mark of 27:34.6 on the 8k course. Corban's fifth runner and final scorer was sophomore Drew Larabee (Beaverton, Ore.), as Larabee finished in a time of 27:53.0.
Corban returns to the course next Friday to compete at the Beaver Classic while continuing to prepare for the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Championships, which are set to take place on November 7 at Corban.
