KANSAS CITY, Mo. — (Complete MRPI list) In the second edition of the 2015 NAIA Men's Soccer Modified Ratings Percentage Index (MRPI), Vanguard (Calif.) lands the No. 1 position, announced by the national office on Wednesday. The Lions, who are 11-2-0 on the year, earn their first MRPI top billing since the inception of MRPI in 2010. The third and final MRPI will be announced on Monday, Nov. 16.

MRPI Highlights (historical information dates back to 2010):
• After taking No. 2 in the MRPI first edition on Sept. 30, Vanguard propels up to the top spot for the first time in school history.
• Vanguard becomes the ninth different program to collect the No. 1 MRPI position.
• This past Tuesday, the Lions captured the No. 6 ranking in the NAIA Men’s Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.
• Checking in with the No. 2 position is Northwestern Ohio. Rio Grande (Ohio), who held the No. 1 spot in the Sept. 30 installment, falls down to No. 3. Davenport (Mich.) and Oklahoma Wesleyan hold the Nos. 4 and 5 rankings, respectively.
• No. 18 The Master’s (Calif.) is the highest mentioned team in the MRPI that was not ranked in the most recent Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.
• Rio Grande (Ohio) holds the most top mentions in the MRPI (six) out of any NAIA program.
• Since 2010, the following teams have held the No. 1 position in a MRPI poll: Rio Grande (6), Hastings (Neb.) (3), Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) (2), former member Simon Fraser (B.C.) (2), Auburn Montgomery (1), Davenport (1), Grand View (1), Mobile (Ala.) (1) and Vanguard (Calif.).
• Rio Grande and Lindsey Wilson are the only teams to earn a position in each of the 18 MRPI rankings since it was introduced in 2010. Hastings and Kansas Wesleyan had their streak snapped at 16-straight mentions in the Sept. 30 edition.

MRPI Methodology:
• The Men’s Soccer Modified Ratings Percentage Index (MRPI)—first adopted in 2010—will select the at-large qualifying teams and seed the 32-team national championship opening round field. For a MRPI calendar, click here
• The final MRPI, used to select the at-large teams, will occur on Monday, Nov. 16. This takes place one day later than the past few years.
• The MRPI consists of the team’s modified winning percentage, their opponents’ winning percentage and the cumulative ratings points from the NAIA Men’s Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. Each of the three values has a weighted percentage calculated in the MRPI. The MRPI modifies the value of home/away/neutral results and adds more value for games against opponents ranked in their respective national poll.
• For a complete description of the MRPI formula, go to Appendix B (page 29) in the Soccer Coaches’ Manual, or click here
