Knight Women Break Through, Defeat NCU 1-0 10/23/2015 7:26:00 PM PORTLAND, Ore. - An early goal from Brittney Yoshimura held up for 87 minutes, as Warner Pacific edged Northwest Christian 1-0 today at Damazo Field. The Basics • Score: Warner Pacific 1, Northwest Chrsitain 0 • Records: WPC (2-9-3, 1-7-1 CCC), NCU (2-10-1, 1-7 CCC) • Location: Kathryn Damazo Field - Portland, Ore. • The Short Story: Warner Pacific scored in the 3rd minute of the game, then held on for their first CCC win of 2015. Brittany Yoshimura took a Taylor Kern pass and tucked away the score with just over 2 minutes gone off the clock. Mariah Liebert made nine saves for WPC to preserve the shutout. How it Happened • The Knights got on the board quickly, after Talylor Kern intercepted a pass and found Yoshimura who chipped a shot past an onrushing NCU keeper. • The bulk of the chances for the rest of the firtst half belonged to Northwest Christian, but none of their eight shots seriously challenged Liebert and the rest of the Knight defense. • NCU looked more dangerous in the second half, launching nine more shots and earning five corner kicks. • Liebert came up with a clutch save in the 81st minute, stopping a blast from NCU's Melysa Weber and then collecting the rebound while still on her back. • The Warner Pacific defense held out the rest of the way, sending the team to their first CCC win and third shutout of the season.
