Mountaineers Sneak Past Owls 1-0
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.- Makenzie Forsyth scored from 30 yards out in the 27th minute as
Eastern Oregon improved to 4-1 in Cascade Conference play and 9-1 overall with a 1-0 win
over Oregon Tech (2-3 CCC, 4-5-1) Friday afternoon at Trevor Derrah Field.
Eastern Oregon used strong 15 mph gusty winds to its advantage as they played with that
wind and controlled play. EOU held a big 10-2 advantage in shots and a 5-0 edge in shots on
goal in first half.
In the 27th minute Makenzie Forsyth found a loose ball in front of the Oregon Tech goal and
scored on a high arching shot from 30 yards out for the game winner, her fourth goal of the
year.
Tech turned the tables in the second half but couldn’t find the equalizer falling by the 1-0 score.
The Owls held a 7-2 advantage in shots in the second half and a 4-1 edge in shots on frame
however good keeper play from Mountaineers Goalie Jessica Parker kept Tech off the
scoreboard. Parker was credited with 4 saves all in the second half to pick up the shutout win.
Alyssa Stewart led the OIT offense with two shots in the game both on frame in the loss.
Oregon Tech will host Warner Pacific ( 0-4-1 CCC 1-6-3) Saturday at 4:30 pm at Steen Sports
Park with Eastern Oregon traveling over the hill to battle Southern Oregon University in
Ashland, Ore. at 4:00 pm. SOU downed Warner Pacific 5-1 Friday night.
