PORTLAND, Ore. – The Multnomah University men’s soccer team came up against a fast and explosive Great Falls squad, losing to the Argos 14-0 on Friday night at Portland Adventist Academy.

Great Falls has already clinched a spot in the Cascade Collegiate Conference postseason tournament, currently sitting in fourth place in the conference standings.

How it Happened: Great Falls scored often and early on a windy and rainy day, notching their first goal in the opening three minutes of play. The Argos added eight more goals in the opening half to take a 9-0 lead heading into halftime. MU’s Michael Kochis forced one shot on goal which ended in a save by the UGF keeper. Great Falls won the shot total, recorded 21 shots in the opening half to MU’s two.

The second half of play continued much like the first half, with the Argos scoring within the opening five minutes of play. The Lions couldn’t find a way to get past the speed of the opposing team, as they struggled to get any sort of offense going.

For the Argos, Luis Torres and Ian Okoo each finished with a hat trick, scoring three goals apiece while seven other players found the back of the net, with Jordan Byland tallying two goals. Manny Guillermo finished with nine saves in goal for the Lions, bringing his season total to 100 saves.

From the Coach: “We had a tough one today. We are so thin now with many guys banged up from a long season and playing a good team with speed, the scoreboard does not show the heart of this squad,” said head coach Tom Stephens. “I would coach them any day.”

Coming Up Next: The Lions will host their final game of the season against Carroll College tomorrow evening at Portland Christian High School at 4 pm.
