Lady Owls Win Double-Overtime Thriller
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Cassidy Gosvener scored the golden goal with just two minutes left in the second overtime to lift Oregon Tech (3-3 CCC, 5-5-1) to a 2-1 Cascade Conference win over Warner Pacific (0-5-1 CCC, 1-7-3)
Saturday afternoon at Trevor Derrah Field.
Oregon Tech’s Tarryn Miyamura gave the home team the lead just before half as she took a long kick by Keeper Katie Vames and scored from 20 yards out in the 43
rd minute. Vames’ kick was aided by wind gusts reaching 35 mph.
Warner Pacific tied the game at 1-1 in 50
th as Larissa Byrgazova sent a corner kick right in front of the OIT goal, Tech’s keeper punched the ball away but the Knight’s Brooke Yoshimura put the ball right back on frame scoring the equalizer.
The two teams would battle over the next 57 minutes including almost two full overtimes before Tech’s Gosvener scored the game winner. Tori Roberts sent a near perfect pass across the 18, Gosvener settled the pass, and shot past the keeper for the golden goal.
For the game, Tech dominated play and held a huge 32-10 advantage in shots and a 12-5 edge in shots on goal.
Katie Vames had 4 saves in picking up the win between the pipes for OIT. Warner Pacific’s Keeper Mariah Liebert had a busy night, as she was credited with 10 saves as the tough luck loser.
Oregon Tech will travel to Washington with games at Evergreen State and Northwest
next Friday and
Saturday.
