GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Argos winning streak continued, this time in dominant fashion, with a 9-0 win over Trinity Lutheran College.

UGF was in control from start to finish and the start was spectacular. Just thirty seconds into the game senior Tyler Uddin drove down the left flank, towards the end line, and put a cross into the penalty box. The ball found its way through the TLC defenders towards the back post where fellow senior Renan Zampieri took a sidewise leap and volleyed the ball back across the net and into the the left corner.

“Renan's goal to open up play was a terrific finish and I thought really set the tone for the team and game,” said UGF head coach Joseph Yeisley.

The next few minutes saw play briefly even out, with the Eagles forcing UGF keeper Henrik Sohn into his only save of the day. The 12th minute saw the Argos get back on the board, with the seniors again providing the crucial plays. This time it was midfielder Anderson Cardoso with an assist to forward Jordan Byland. Byland received the ball inside the box, turned and placed an accurate shot into the net.

The Argos’ next goal was particularly tough for the Eagles, with Uddin not only scoring but also leading himself and a TLC defender into the charging keeper. The combined contact was enough to force the goalie out of the game, leaving their reserve keeper to face the surging UGF attack.

From then on the Argos almost scored at will. They went into the half up 4-0 and added five more before the 70th minute. The top scorer for UGF was Uddin, who finished with three goals and one assist. Outside of Uddin, the rest of the scoring was evenly spread with coach Yeisley able to get most of his bench valuable playing time.

“We had solid contributions from everyone today and I felt it was a true total team effort,” Yeisley said. “We are performing well right now and need to continue to improve as we have a big conference matchup with Carroll on Sunday.”

Yeisley’s team seems to be hitting its stride during a six game win streak that has brought their record to 6-3 (4-1). They take on Carroll College next on October 11 at 3 p.m. in what will be a crucial game for the Argos chances at a conference title.
