SALEM, Ore. – The College of Idaho scored two goals in the first half on Friday, blanking the Corban University women's soccer team at Warrior Field, 2-0. For the Warriors, it is the eighth time in the last nine games that they have been unable able to score a goal.

"Coach Brian has done a great job with his team and they are well deserving of being a top team in the conference," said Corban head coach Marty Ziesemer. "I was pleased with how we matched up against them. We did a number of good things."

In the 26th minute of play, the Yotes got on the board, as after Warrior sophomore goalkeeper Sheyenne Brusven (Silverton, Ore.) made a great diving save, the ball only fell as far as the feet of Jamiece Yizar, and Yizar scored one of the easier goals she'll ever have to score, one-touching the ball into the goal from just a couple of yards out.

The Yotes (8-2, 4-1 CCC) then scored again after Bailey Watson slipped a little through ball behind the defense of the Warriors, and Brianna Blair ran onto it, firing a powerful shot into the goal to double C of I's advantage.

In the second stanza, Corban turned things around, playing much more positively and creating more chances, but unfortunately for the Warriors, those shots and chances did not turn into any goals, resulting in being shutout in the loss.

"In the second half, I thought we had the better of the play," said Ziesemer. "The team has to keep their heads up and be ready for another battle against another solid program."

C of I edged Corban in shots, 11-9, while Corban held the corner-kick advantage, 3-1.

Warrior freshman forward Julia Agarkov (Brush Prairie, Wash.) led the way for Corban with two shots, while sophomore forward Sadee Kallis (Yakima, Wash.) came off the bench to tally two shots as well.

For the Yotes, Sydney Woods registered a game-high three shots.

Defensively, Brusven recorded seven saves in the loss for Corban.

Corban (3-9, 1-5 CCC) returns to the pitch tomorrow when it takes on Rocky Mountain College. Kickoff at Warrior Field is set for 12 p.m. If you can't make it to the match, be sure to follow along via live stats and the live video broadcast.
