KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Missouri Baptist is still in control in this edition of the 2015 Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Tuesday. The final regular season installment will be released on Sunday, November 15.
Top 25 Highlights (historical information dates back to 2000):
• No. 1 Missouri Baptist is still in control of the No. 1 spot after earning all 21 possible first-place votes and a total of 591 points. Remaining in the No. 2 spot this week is Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) with 572 points.
• The Great Plains Athletic Conference has the most schools appearing in the Top 25 Poll including: No. 8 Midland (Neb.), No. 10 Hastings (Neb.), No. 14 Dordt (Iowa), No. 17 Concordia (Neb.) and No. 20 Northwestern (Iowa).
• Previous No. 7 Dordt (Iowa) drops seven spots to No.14 after falling to Saint Mary (Neb.) in three sets (3-0) in a crucial Great Plains Athletic Conference Quarterfinal contest.
• Four teams have more than 30 wins on the season, all with five losses-or-less: Missouri Baptist (32-3), No. 3 Viterbo (Wis.) (34-4), No. 16 Evangel (Mo.) (36-4) and No. 23 Madonna (Mich.) (31-5).
• Hastings (Neb.) makes their way back up the rankings, moving five spots after a good week beating RV Doane (Neb.) in three sets and National Championship host Briar Cliff (Iowa) also in three sets.
• Biola, which has been ranked among the top 10 in 51-consecutive polls, holds the longest active streak in the Top 25 at 121-straight. Columbia (Mo.) is next with 110-consecutive mentions.
• No. 18 Lourdes (Ohio) remains the only team to have an undefeated season (28-0) in the Top 25.
• Only one program has been able to maintain the No. 1 ranking for an entire season, with Fresno Pacific (Calif.) accomplishing the feat in 2004, 2008 and 2009.
• Previous-No. 11 Evangel had a rough week falling to No. 19 MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) in three sets. With that loss, they fell five spots in the Top 25 Poll.
• There are no new teams in this week’s Top 25 Coaches’ Poll.
Poll Methodology
• The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and the Association of Independent Institutions.
• The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
• The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low ratings) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appears on.
• Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered “receiving votes”
