ESPN Boise to Broadcast C of I Men's Basketball
NAMPA, Idaho – Impact Radio Group and the College of Idaho have announced that ESPN Boise will serve as the flagship station of Coyote men's basketball games for the remainder of the 2015-16 season.
Beginning with Tuesday's Cascade Conference opener against Eastern Oregon, C of I games will be simulcast on both ESPN Boise stations – 96.5-FM and 730-AM – along with ESPNBoise.com.
"ESPN Boise is proud to present the Treasure Valley access to the College of Idaho and the Yotes men's basketball program," said ESPN Boise Program Director, Michael Christianson. "Impact Radio Group and ESPN Boise are excited about our partnership and look forward to broadcasting all of the Yotes' Cascade Conference games for the 2015-2016 season. We believe a program such as the C of I deserves to be on the radio and this partnership will associate the College with the leader in sports entertainment. We're looking forward to sharing the success of
Scott Garson and the Yotes with the wide fan base and the YoteFam that exists throughout the Treasure Valley."
Longtime C of I play-by-play man Mike Safford returns for his 15th-year as the Voice of the Yotes, providing coverage of each game – home and away. Safford will also anchor a weekly coaches' show, originating from Stewart's Bar and Grill in Caldwell each Monday night at 7 p.m.
"With the caliber of basketball the Yotes have played under
Scott Garson the past two seasons, the demand for C of I games on the radio has been overwhelming," said C of I Athletic Director,
Marty Holly. "We are excited to partner with ESPN Boise to return our games to local radio and provide a great service to our outstanding fans."
It marks the first time since the 2010 that regular-season Coyote basketball games have been carried on local radio. C of I games were carried over local radio for 63-straight years from 1946-2009, however, Tuesday's game will mark the first-ever FM-radio broadcast of Coyote basketball.
