By Scott Barker, Communications and Sports Information Intern
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) is the No. 1 team in the seventh-regular season edition of the NAIA Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Tuesday. The eighth regular-season poll will released on Nov. 10.
Top 25 Highlights (historical information dates back to 1999):
• For the ninth-straight installment, Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) is the No. 1 team in the NAIA Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. The Blue Raiders received all 19 first-place votes for a total of 529 points.
• Northwestern Ohio is No. 2 for the fifth-straight week. The Racers received 511 points.
• Lindsey Wilson is trying to become the first team to go the entire season ranked No. 1.
• Two new teams join this week’s Top 25 – No. 24 Ottawa (Kan.) and No. 25 Viterbo (Wis.)
• Ottawa joins the Top 25 after missing out the past three weeks.
• This is the first time in school history that Viterbo is the Top 25.
• Oklahoma City (No. 23) and Kansas Wesleyan (No. 21) were the two teams to drop out of this week’s installment.
• St. Ambrose (Iowa) moved up five spots from No. 22 to No. 17, which highlighted the positive movement.
• Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) had the biggest fall in the poll as it dropped seven spots from No. 11 to No. 18.
• Twelve of the 19 conference/Association of Independent Institutions are represented in the Top 25.
• The Mid-South Conference, Southern States Athletic Conference, Hearth of America Athletic Conference and Golden State Athletic Conference lead all leagues with three teams represented each.
• Lindsey Wilson extends its NAIA record of most No.1 rankings to 54. Former-NAIA member Azusa Pacific (Calif.) is second with 33. The Blue Raiders also extend the longest active streak of consecutive appearances in the Top 25 to 167-consecutive mentions, including 137-straight in the top 10.

Poll Methodology:
• The poll was voted upon by a panel of 19 head coaches representing each of the conferences, independents and unaffiliated groups.
• The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first place vote, 29 for second place and so on through the list.
• The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the team appears on.
• Teams who receive only one point in the ballot will not be listed in the “Receiving Votes” category.
• The Modified Ratings Percentage Index (MRPI) is a separate ranking conducted on Sept. 29, Oct. 20 and Nov. 16. The MRPI—first adopted in 2010—will select the at-large national championship qualifying teams and seed the 32-team national championship opening round field.
