Rocky Mountain Advances on PK's in NAIA Men's Soccer Championships
Delray Beach, Fla.- Cascade Conference regular season and tournament champion Rocky Mountain College advanced on penalty kicks this evening over Oklahoma Wesleyan.
-No. 12 Rocky Mountain (Mont.) (16-2-4) tied No. 5 Oklahoma Wesleyan (20-1-1), 0-0 (2 OT)

After a scoreless draw at the completion of the second overtime, Rocky Mountain advances with a 5-4 PK shootout over Oklahoma Wesleyan. Donovan Luce scored on his team’s fifth PK attempt for the difference maker. A PK miss by Oklahoma Wesleyan’s Alexander Simovic on his team’s fifth attempt opened the door for Luce’s heroics. The Battlin’ Bears will play Wednesday in its first-ever quarterfinal.

National Championship Final Site Day One Notes
- With two double overtime matches today, Day 1 of the national championship has included at least one multiple OT match in the last four postseason events.
-With three shutouts today, that marks the first time since 2011 when Day 1 had at least three blankings in the first day.
-Three of the winners today advance to their first-ever Quarterfinal round: Indiana Wesleyan, Missouri Valley and Rocky Mountain (Mont.).
-The team to score first went 2-1 today – this excludes the PK draw by Rocky Mountain.
- With a 2-0 victory today over No. 16 Union (Ky.), top seed Rio Grande (Ohio) advances to its fifth quarterfinal round since 2008. Overall, the RedStorm improves to 25-11-2 in the national championship.
- The 25 postseason wins for Rio Grande is good for No. 7 on the NAIA all-time list.
- Rio Grande notches its 20th season victory for the first time since 2010 (22 wins).
- Since a loss to Union on Oct. 3, Rio Grande has outscored its opponents 40-5 during a nine-match win streak.
- After 1-0 win against Southeastern, Indiana Wesleyan heads to its first-ever quarterfinal. In their third overall championships, the Wildcats were 0-1 in the second round prior to today.
--With three goals today, Missouri Valley has scored at least three-plus goals in four of its last six matches.
