NCU Wins Second-Straight CCC Women’s Cross Country Championship

SALEM, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University women’s cross country team showed why it is ranked No. 1 in the NAIA, dominating the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Cross Country Championships on a rainy Saturday at Corban University. Thanks to their top-five runners all finishing in the top six overall, the Beacons registered a resounding 17 total points to capture their second-straight CCC XC Championship.

Sierra Brown won the individual title for NCU with a time of 17:39, while teammate Alyssa Harmon finished not far behind her with a mark of 17:42.8. Clocking a third-place finishing time of 18:21.8 was Michelle Fletcher for the Beacons, while Shea Vallaire and Rosa Schmidt uncorked times of 18:32.4 and 18:32.5 to finish fifth and sixth overall.

With the CCC Championship, the Beacons garner the automatic berth to the NAIA Championships.

The fourth-place finisher at the meet individually was College of Idaho’s Amy Pfaff with a mark of 18:25.7, leading the Yote women to a second-place finish as a team with 60 points. Ruth Lewinski and Lila Klopfenstein also notched top-10 times, as Lewinski finished in eighth (18:37.6), and Klopfenstein took 10th with a mark of 18:41.9.

Rounding out the team finishes was Oregon Tech in third place with 101 points, while Southern Oregon University took fourth with 103 total points. Corban University placed fifth with 131 points, Northwest University took sixth with 143 points, Eastern Oregon University took seventh with 158 points, and Warner Pacific College took eighth with 249 points.
