Hustlin’ Owls Down Warriors to Capture Bill Holtz Title
ROCKLIN, Calif. – Austen Flint hit two free throws with 6.6 seconds remaining as Oregon Tech held on to knock off William Jessup 75-74. With the win the Owls win the Bill Holtz Classic Championship for the first time Saturday night at Warrior Arena.
Four Owls scored in double figures led by Lavar Moore who had 22, followed by Flints 17 points, 13 points from Joel Yellow Owl and 11 Points from Derek Evans off the bench.
Oregon Tech took a 34-28 lead into the halftime break. In the second half Tech led by as many as 11 three times but the Warriors kept battling and pulled within one point at 73-72 before Flint hit the back-to-back free throws with 6.6 seconds left giving OIT the 75-72 lead. Great defense by the Hustlin’ Owls forced the Warriors to settle for the two point basket instead of shooting a three for the tie, and the Owls held on for the 75-74 win.
