ROCKLIN, Calif. – Ashleigh Vandenbrink had a game high 21 points to lead Oregon Tech to a 79-42 win over UC Merced as the Owls evened up their season record at 2-2 on the year. With the win the Owls captured the Bill Holtz Warrior Classic Tournament Championship for the third year in a row Saturday afternoon at Warrior Arena.
 
The Bobcats took an early 7-3 lead at the 6:42 mark in the first period but Tech would go on a 13-1 run to take a 17-8 lead to end the first period.
 
UC Merced pressured the Owls into 18 first half turnovers to cut the OIT lead to 28-21 at the half.
 
A three-pointer by Christina Castro cut the Owls lead to just four points to start the third period. The Owls then went on a 12-2 run to take a 40-26 lead on a Vandenbrink three-pointer with five minutes to play in the stanza.
 
OIT held a 58-37 lead at the end of the third period and would take its largest lead at 37 points on a Morgan Roberts layup with just 28 second remaining in the game.
 
After the 21 points from Vandenbrink, Tess Armstrong had 14 points followed by freshman Morgan Roberts 13 points. Megan Whetstone finished with a game high 9 rebounds and 9 points for the Owls.
