BILLINGS — Rocky Mountain College men’s soccer coach Richard Duffy has been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as the NAIA West regional soccer coach of the year.

Duffy, in his seventh season, led the Battlin’ Bears to their third-straight national tournament appearance, where they made the quarterfinals before bowing out of the tournament in a 3-0 loss to Missouri Valley College.

The Battlin’ Bears, who claimed, in their first season as members of the Cascade Collegiate Conference, both the regular season as well as conference tournament championships, finished the season 17-3-4 as well as ranked seventh nationally.

Duffy’s regional award qualifies him for consideration for the national coach of the year award that will be announced Dec. 16.
