First Fall 2015 Learfield Sports Directors Cup Standings Released

CLEVELAND – In the first set of fall Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings, Oklahoma City has accumulated 173.50 points to lead the NAIA standings.

 Bolstered by a strong showing in men's and women's cross country the Cascade Conference has four teams in the early season ranking. Led by National Champions in women's Cross Country and a 16th place in men's cross country, Northwest Christian University find themselves in 3rd place overall. College of Idaho is in the 7th slot wihile Southern Oregon is in 17th place. Oregon Tech rounds out the CCC contingent in 32nd place.

British Columbia is in second with 165 points (2nd in women’s cross country and 5th in men’s cross country), Indiana Wesleyan is in fourth with 148 points (3rd in men’s cross country and 13th in women’s cross country) and Carroll concludes the top 5 with 145.50 points (5th in women’s cross country and 8th in men’s cross country).

The Cascade and Golden State conferences lead all NAIA conferences in the top 10 with two institutions each – Northwest Christian (3rd) and College of Idaho (7th) from Cascade, and The Master’s (8th) and Biola (10th) from Golden State.

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.  Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to12 sports in the NAIA-- six women’s and six men’s.

The next NAIA fall standings will be released Wednesday, December 17.
