THE STORYLINE
EOU (8-6, 4-1 CCC) drilled four-straight three’s to build an 18-8 lead with 5:02 left in the opening quarter. A pesky Eagle squad cut it to four, but then Parrish erupted for a quartet of three’s to end the stanza to give EOU a 34-22 lead after the opening frame.
Northwest (6-9, 2-4 CCC) got as close as six in the second quarter before Parrish swooshed yet another three to keep the Mountaineers in front. The Washington native tallied six three’s and scored 18 of EOU’s 47 first-half points.
Osborne, Moss, and Laan netted buckets early in the second half to put EOU up, 56-43, with 4:19 remaining in the third quarter. After the Navy and Gold’s lead got chopped down to nine (59-50), Parrish and Osborne scored the final seven points of the period to extend EOU’s advantage to 16.
EOU led by as many as 19 (71-52) after a long ball by Parrish with 7:39 left in the game, but Northwest clawed its way back into the affair thanks to a disruptive full-court press.
Nevertheless, the Mountaineers prevailed by knocking down five of their final six free throws to keep the Eagles at bay.
