Red Lion Players of the Week Announced
The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period of February 16 – 22.
Beau Kerns
Baseball – Pitcher
Lewis-Clark State’s Beau Kerns has been named the Red Lion Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Kerns, a senior pitcher from Lewiston, Idaho, now 3-0, used 129 pitches to go the distance, holding the NCAA Division II Wolves to just six hits while striking out nine. He is the first Warrior pitcher since Andy Torres in 2002 to throw three consecutive complete games.
He's also the first hurler since Matt Fitts (2008) to notch three complete games in a season, and it's only February.

Cabe Reiten
Baseball
Lewis-Clark State’s Cabe Reiten has been named the Red Lion Baseball Player of the Week.
Reiten, a junior second baseman from Spanaway, Wash., had a huge series for the Warriors against NCAA Division II Western Oregon, turning in a pair of three-hit games to go with two home runs, five runs scored, and six RBIs out of the leadoff spot.
In doing so, he extended his hitting streak to 15 as he has hit safely in every game so far this season.

Bryan McGriff
Men’s Basketball
Eastern Oregon’s Bryan McGriff has been named the Red Lion Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
McGriff, a junior forward from Las Vegas, Nev., recorded his 13th double-double of the season, as he scored a game-high 25 points and game-high 15 rebounds. McGriff hit a free throw, with six seconds left in the game to force overtime.
The next night, McGriff scored a game-high 36 points on 12-of-20 shooting. He collected nine rebounds in the victory that gave EOU a berth in the CCC Tournament.

Zach Lake
Men’s Indoor Field
Concordia’s Zach Lake has been named the Red Lion Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Lake, a junior from Tacoma, Wash., hit the NAIA 'A' qualifier by placing third--behind a pair of post collegiate athletes--with a throw of 51-0 1/4 (15.55m), a mark good for No. 18 in the NAIA.

Demetrius Rhodes
Men’s Indoor Track
Concordia’s Demetrius Rhodes has been named the Red Lion Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Rhodes, a junior from Portland, Ore., Hit the NAIA 'A' standard in the open 600 with a 1:20.50 and came back to anchor the school's 3,200-meter relay team to an 'A' mark of 7:43.24.
Rhodes' 600 time is good for No. 7 in the NAIA while CU' 4x800 time rests as the No. 3 time in the country despite the team running the event as the lone competitor last week.

Cheyenne Bricker
Softball - Pitcher
Southern Oregon’s Cheyenne Bricker has been named the Red Lion Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Bricker, a senior pitcher from Bieber, Calif., didn't allow an earned run in two complete-game wins, including a win in the Northwest Cup against 10th-ranked Simpson.
Upped her record to 7-1 and lowered her ERA to 2.39.

Alexa Gonzalez
Softball
Southern Oregon’s Alexa Gonzalez has been named the Red Lion Softball Player of the Week.
Gonzalez, a junior third baseman from Menifee, Calif., hit her second and third home runs of the season while going 11-for-17. Has hit safely in 14 of 19 games and reached base in 17.
Already has more hits this season (27-for-56, .482) than she did while starting all 38 games last year (20-for-108, .185).

LaNiecia Weatherspoon
Women’s Basketball
The Evergreen State College’s Laniecia Weatherspoon has been named the Red Lion Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Weatherspoon, a junior guard from Seattle, Wash., played her best game of the season Friday night against College of Idaho and in the process helped six-player Evergreen earn a conference tournament home game for the first time in program history.
She tallied 21 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, four blocks and three steals against the 'Yotes. She averaged 23 points, 6 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2 blocks and 3 steals in the two games.

Alyssa Neal
Women’s Indoor Field
Warner Pacific’s Alyssa Neal has been named the Red Lion Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Neal, a sophomore from Salem, Ore., broke school records in both the triple jump and long jump at the WPC 50/50 meet, while posting NAIA "A" qualifying marks in both events.
Her leap of 39-5.25 in the triple jump is 5th best in the NAIA this season.

Mikel Elliott
Women’s Indoor Track
Concordia’s Mikel Elliott has been named the Red Lion Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the week.
Elliott, a senior from Randle, Wash., posted an NAIA 'A' qualifier in eth mile by running the 1,500 last week in 4:46.50. The senior returned to open the school's 3,200-meter relay squad to victory with a time of 9:32.68, good for No. 14 on the NAIA performance list.
