ASHLAND – The Southern Oregon softball team turned around a once-bleak afternoon by piecing together a four-run rally in the fourth inning to earn a 4-3 Game 2 victory over College of Idaho and a Cascade Conference split Friday at University Field.

After allowing nine hits and three runs through the first three innings, Raider pitcher Brianne Craig (Rialto, Calif./Etiwanda) settle down and hung in for a 132-pitch complete game that brought her record to 9-4 and SOU's to 22-16 overall and 3-7 in the CCC.

The Yotes (13-19, 4-6) won the opener, 10-3, thanks to a five-run fourth inning that broke a 2-2 tie. They had 15 hits in the game – all singles – as Kristin Paulazzo went 3-for-4, Jodie Hoagland went 2-for-2 with three runs and an RBI and Katie Rowe had two hits and two RBIs.

C of I's Cortni Pena worked around nine hits in six innings of work, allowing two earned runs for the win. SOU tied it with Megan Winton (Davis, Calif./Davis Senior) and Ally Painter (La Palma, Calif./St. Joseph)'s consecutive two-out doubles in the second and Gina Ayala (Norwalk, Calif./Santa Fe)'s double that drove in Cortney Nolan (Twin Falls, Idaho/Twin Falls) in the third before the Yotes did their damage with five hits in the fourth.

Cheyenne Bricker (Bieber, Calif./Big Valley) went five innings and was SOU's pitcher of decision.

In Game 2, the Yotes used two run-scoring singles by Destiny Turner and another by Destiny Campbell to take an early 3-0 lead.

Winton and Kayla Douglas (Santa Rosa, Calif./Cardinal Newman) walked and singled to set the table for SOU's big fourth inning. Tyler Burke (Lakewood, Calif./Lakewood) lined an RBI single to left, and Alex Gonzalez hit a bases-loaded sacrifice fly. With two outs, Kristin Ahern (Anaheim Hills, Calif./Rosary)'s blooper to right brought home the tying run, and Randall came home as the go-ahead run on a throwing error on the same play.

The final eight Yotes who came to the plate went down in order. Craig, whose complete game was her ninth of the season, allowed 11 hits with two strikeouts and a walk.

Ahern, Burke and Gonzalez had two hits apiece in the nightcap, and Ahern's second was a double to the fence.

The Raiders had dropped six of their previous seven before breaking out for the win.

C of I's Julia Rambo took the loss, allowing three earned (four total) in four innings.

SOU will play two more at home on Saturday, with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m. against Eastern Oregon. The Mountaineers (13-15, 3-7) were swept Friday at 13th-ranked Oregon Tech.
