Lady Owls Run Scoreless Streak to 19 innings with Sweep
ATHERTON, Calif. – The Oregon Tech pitching staff ran its consecutive scoreless innings streak to19 as the Owls threw their second and third consecutive shut-outs by three different pitchers, winning 4-0 over Menlo College in game 1 Saturday and 8-0 over Antelope Valley in game 2. The Owls improve to 16-6 on the season with the two victories as OIT wrapped up a 4-0 weekend in the Bay Area.
In Game 1 – Anne-Marie Guischer pitched all 7 scoreless innings, spreading-out 4-hits, with 9 strikeouts with the OIT offense putting up 10 hits in the 4-0 win.
Tasha Silvius and Ariel Fulkerson powered the OIT offense with a home-run each. Silvius went 3-4 in the game with Fulkerson and Sadie Birch each adding two-hits in the Owl win.
In Game 2 – It was Rylee Carlton’s turn in the circle, and she kept the scoreless streak intact for Oregon Tech. Carleton pitched all 5-innings, giving up just 2-hits with 6 strikeouts in the 8-0 shut-out win. Carleton joined Guischer from game 1 and Jessi Duncan who threw a 2-hit shut-out on Friday, as the third consecutive Owls pitcher to throw a shut-out.
The Owls scored 7-runs on 9-hits in the first inning highlighted by home-runs by Silvius (5) and Ashley Sfetku (2).
McKenzie Shrum added 3-hits in the win, with Katie Virtue and Silvius each having 2-hits in the win.
The Owls will next begin Cascade Conference action traveling to Portland, Oregon to play Concordia University on Friday and Northwest University on Saturday in Kirkland, Washington
