GENEVA, Ohio -
Alyssa Neal placed fourth in both the long jump and triple jump at the NAIA Indoor National Championship, earning All-American status in each event.
Neal, a sophomore from Salem, competed in the long jump on Friday and put forth her best effort on her final jump. She emerged from the pit with a distance of 5.65 meters (18-6.5), which broke her own WPC record and moved her up to 4th place overall.
The triple jump took place on Saturday, and Neal leaped to the best mark in her flight on her second attempt of the day at 11.78 meters (38-7.75). She was unable to improve on her distance during the finals, but her original best mark was good for fourth place overall.
"What a great meet for Alyssa and coach Holding!" said coach Dave Kilian. "Alyssa worked hard with Kelly to polish her technique and it paid off with a couple of All-American awards. She can move to outdoor competition with a great amount of confidence."
