KLAMATH FALLS, Ore – Oregon Tech Senior Tasha Silvius was seven for seven at the plate with six RBI and two home runs on senior day to lead No. 12 OIT to a Cascade Conference sweep of Northwest Christian 7-0, and 9-0 on a rainy Saturday at the OIT Softball Complex.

Oregon Tech improves to 35-11 on the season and 19-5 in CCC play with the sweep. NCU falls to 7-14 in CCC play and 10-29 overall with today’s results.

Game 1 – Oregon Tech’s Rylee Carleton picked up her 13th win of the season and Silvius crushed two home runs as the two seniors led the Owls to a 7-0 win over Northwest Christian in game 1.

Tech jumped out early, scoring twice in the bottom of the first on 2-hits and error highlighted by a McKenzie Shrum double. OIT went up 3-0 in the third as Silvius hit a monster solo home run to deep left field.

Tech made it 5-0 scoring two runs on 4-hits in the 4th inning. Tara Moates singled to right field scoring Katie Virtue who had singled to start the 5th to give OIT a 6-0 lead.

Silvius made it 7-0 with her second home run of the day and 13th of the season moving her to 10th All-Time at Oregon Tech for a single season. It was also her 4th hit in the game as she led the OIT offense.

Carleton pitched six scoreless innings to move to 13-3 on the season and now has 33 career wins, putting her 8th on the OIT All-Time wins list.

Virtue, Shrum, Moates and Ariel Fulkerson all had 2-hits each in the win. Parker Bonife had 3-hits and Randi Kostner had 2-hits for the Beacons. Jill Suratt went six innings giving up 7-runs (5 earned) falling to 5-12 in the circle for Northwest Christian.

Game 2 – After a two hour rain delay game 2 got started much the same as game 1 with Oregon Tech scoring early and often. Silvius hit a bases loaded double that scored 3-runs to put Tech up 3-0 after one inning.

The Hustlin’ Owls added 5-runs on 4-hits in the bottom of the second inning highlighted by a Silvius 2-run single to give the Owls an 8-0 lead.

Tech added one run in the bottom of the 4th to go up 9-0. But with the bases loaded and no outs, Northwest Christian turned the rare triple-play. The OIT batter lined the ball off of the NCU third basemen Parker Bonife’s glove; Bonife picked up the ball, tagging the runner between 3rd/Home, then tagged the runner between 2nd/3rd, before throwing the ball to second base to force out the OIT runner between 1st and 2nd, creating a triple play. That would be it as far as highlights for the Beacons as they went down in order in the 5th and the game ended 9-0 Oregon Tech via the mercy rule.

Silvius had three-hits and Cassidy Hoglund had two-hits to lead the Owl’s offense.

Oregon Tech Starter Jessi Duncan went all 5-innings, allowing just two-hits to pick up her 6th complete game and her 5th shut-out of the year to improve to 13-5.
